FRAMESTORE ADD SPARKLE TO VODAFONE COMMERCIAL

FRAMESTORE have added the sparkle to Vodafone’s latest commercial where things are not what they seem.
The fully animated 3D spot, directed by Mic Graves through Studio AKA for BMP DDB, features two girls on a night out eyeing up the talent. Each girl has very different thoughts about what they are looking for in a man and these are conveyed in comical thought bubbles as they hang out in a nightclub.
The larger of the two undresses every man she sees whilst the slender one thinks of weddings and babies. The punchline comes when both girls spot the man of their dreams but have their bubbles burst when they hear the ring on his (Voda) phone – the gay anthem, ‘YMCA’, accompanied by the caller id, ‘Steve’.
Murray Butler, FrameStore's Senior Inferno Operator, composited and graded all of the layers at 2K resolution which were uploaded via FrameStore's secure FTP site (a faster method than the more traditional) and used a range of sparks to create a UV effect in the club, scan lines in the thought bubbles and to sync the flashing lights effect on the girls and their drinks.
