ARISTA CHOOSE CARDIFF VENUE FOR TRAINING COURSE

ARISTA, best known for their intensive European film and drama development workshops, have announced a two-day course of specialist lectures, exercises and studies on the subject of adapting an existing work for the screen.
The course, co-hosted by Sgrin and Cyfle, is to take place on July 23 and 24, 2001 and is to be held in Cyfle’s boardroom in Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff.
Stephen Cleary, Arista’s Founder and Co-director, said: “We chose to launch this new series in Cardiff because of our close association with Sgrin over the last few years. We have already seen good progress being made by those who attended our course in Anglesey in December, which was part funded by Sgrin. It is very encouraging to see the writing talent that is emerging in Wales.”
Sgrin’s Head of Production, Pauline Larkkom, said: “We are delighted that Arista have once again approached Sgrin to launch the first series of special workshops, which focuses on the art of script adaptation. Through Sgrin’s collaboration with Arista over the past three years, we have benefited from upwards of 50 places for Welsh participants, developing a wide variety of film and television projects. Companies and freelancers are increasingly investing in their futures and taking advantage of premiere training initiatives, which should in turn benefit the health of the Welsh media sector.” (CD)
