Chyron announces Cool TV partnership
Chyron Corporation has reached an agreement with Global Interactive Solutions' Cool TV to offer interactive television services to North American broadcasters and advertisers using mobile phone text messaging and Chyron graphics hardware.
Some typical mobile interactive applications include opinion polls, group chat rooms, trivia challenges, contests, information services and direct marketing.
"When companies such as Chyron and CoolTV join forces, new possibilities are created," said John Remmler, Vice President of Media Solutions for Chyron.
"It's an exciting time now that we have combined the power of Chyron's hardware and reputation in the broadcast industry with the robust software and services of Cool TV. We plan to become the dominant player in what we see as a very exciting and emerging market opportunity while helping our broadcast customers find new sources of revenue."
By utilising Cool TV's proprietary platform based on SMS mobile phone text messaging and Chyron's powerful CAL API graphics engine run by Duet LEXs that allow for dynamic, data-driven updates, this model effectively bypasses gatekeeper cable and satellite providers. In past years, interactive TV commerce had been slowed by demands from service providers that all interactive content be generated through their equipment.
"We will benefit from the market penetration and goodwill that Chyron has with leading broadcasters in North America," said Andres Urrutia, Vice President of Business Development for Cool TV.
"Together, Cool TV and Chyron will create marketing efficiency for many industries, a new broadcast TV business model and a sensible-read profitable for all parties-business model for developing the interactive TV market."
The Chyron/Cool TV business model promises profitability for all parties, revenues will be shared among Chyron, Cool TV, the broadcaster and the mobile service providers.
