Skai TV Purchases Chyron Systems For Athens Facility

Chyron Corporation has announced that recently-launched Greek terrestrial television network Skai TV has purchased a number of Chyron systems to play an integral role in its Athens facility.
The order includes a dual-channel HyperX with Lyric PRO software, an XClyps clip server and CAMIO, Chyron’s MOS graphics management solution for newsrooms. The sale was carried out by Chyron’s Greek partner, Calavitis.
Broadcasting since April 2006, privately owned Skai TV transmits factual, drama and news broadcasts to households across the country. Forming the heart of its graphics output, the HyperX with Lyric PRO software is continually on air, providing real-time 2D and 3D graphics for live news bulletins and a variety of other applications, including promos and live updates. The HyperX was recently used during the country’s municipal elections to deliver high-speed graphic updates as results became available.
Like its sister radio station, Skai TV already has an excellent reputation amongst Greek viewers as a high-quality news network. This recognition has been due in part to the installation of Chyron’s world-renowned CAMIO news graphics management solution. The CAMIO architecture allows Skai TV’s Art Department to build and upload assets, which are then immediately available to the newsroom client. Journalists can remotely browse templates, edit text, replace images and movie files, preview their graphics and insert them into stories, directly from the newsroom client, providing complete flexibility and improved workflow.
The XClyps system purchased by Skai TV features real-time clip playback in dual-channel video and key, and provides the channel with up to 50 hours of video storage. It is being used for news bumpers, station promos, coming-ups and for monitoring background playback.
Skai's Technical manager, Nikos Millas commented: “Chyron has an excellent reputation throughout the broadcast industry. We chose these products because of their immense capabilities, stability and security, as well as the strong support that the company provides.”
David Ward VP and general manager, Chyron EAME commented: “We are delighted that Skai TV chose Chyron for this exciting project. Chyron and Calavitis have worked very closely with Skai over the last year to ensure that the installation ran smoothly and I think the results that Skai TV has achieved since its launch in April speaks volumes.”
Chyron’s HyperX is the most advanced graphics system available today. The HyperX is HD/SD-switchable for effortless migration from SD to HD, and includes exceptional capabilities such as advanced 3D rendering for stunning graphics, multi-layer video mixing, and a full range of options including the Lyric PRO advanced creation and playout application, real-time clip player, 3D DVE and advanced timeline-controlled audio mixing. The XClyps HD/SD-switchable clip server provides unmatched quality and control over clip management, distribution and playback. XClyps can be controlled via GPI triggers, VDCP, Pro-Bel and PBusII automation interfaces.
