Megahertz provides final control with two new centres for etv
Systems integration specialists Megahertz Broadcast Systems has recently completed the design and integration of two Final Control Centres (FCC) for etv's Johannesburg operation.
The two FCCs, identical in design, utilise Quartz QMC master control, complete with DVE, Logo Store, down-stream keyer and ‘traditional’ QMC-FS control panel.
They also employ a 128 x 128 SDI/ Analogue Audio router interfacing with a Harris Automation system to drive an Omneon Video Server for the ingest and playout of all programme titles, commercials and stings.
Other sources include a character generator, an ‘on air’ clock and two local VTRs.
The new FCCs are part of an ongoing upgrade to the Johannesburg Studio Complex and follow previous work completed by Megahertz for etv.
David Stewart, Technical Director, Midi TV said: “The FCCs allow etv to transmit some of its programming from the new Johannesburg centre and improve the on-air look of its transmissions. Megahertz was chosen for this project because of its ability to propose innovative technical solutions to our requirements. The company has exceptionally high standards of workmanship, which shines through in the quality of the two new centres.”
Megahertz also supplied all custom made desks and monitor stacks.
