Sky News places first order for Ikegami's new Editcam

Having introduced the new Editcam 3 the DNS 33W at NAB last April, Ikegami Electronics have received their first order for a complete kit from Sky News.
The new equipment will be deployed in the Sky News Bureau in Delhi. The DNS-33W supersedes Editcam 2 the DNS 201W which has been in use worldwide with the US Airforce among many others for more than three years.
The new camcorder has the latest design camera section with low power consumption and a high signal to noise ratio (65db). FieldPak's, the removable recording medium, are now up to 80Gb capacity and the New Rampak (flash memory) leaves the cassette door hinge the only moving part in the recording system.
George Davies, Head of Cameras at Sky News, said: "Editcam 3 was chosen because of Ikegami's experience with non-linear camcorders, the option of future solid state capability, as well as the cameras flexibility and compatibility with the non-linear edit systems in place now."
