DISCREET INTRODUCE NEW VISUAL EFFECTS SYSTEMS

DISCREET, A division of Autodesk have announced that new versions of their Academy Award-winning, online visual effects systems inferno, flame and flint now support the latest SGI visual workstations, the Octane2 and Onyx 3200.
These platforms offer industry-acclaimed performance and creative interactivity for digital artists as they paint, composite and design sophisticated visual effects and motion graphics with film, high-definition and standard-definition images.
Discreet's new 7.2 versions of flint and flame are optimised to take advantage of SGI's latest Octane2 workstations and VPro graphics subsystems, providing significant boosts in performance, averaging twice the performance of prior releases. inferno is now available for the Onyx 3200 as well as the Onyx 2.
Inferno 4.2 provides support for the latest Onyx 3200 visual supercomputer from SGI, providing the ultimate in online performance. Powered by up to eight processors and the IR3 graphic system, inferno offers a truly interactive online environment for even the most complex high-resolution HDTV and feature film visual effects work including real- time 2K film playback and 12-bit support. The Onyx 3200 with DMediaPro DM3 provides both standard and high-definition video I/O capabilities.
Flame 7.2 takes full advantage of the Octane2's more advanced V12 VPro graphics system and new DMediaPro DM2 HDTV-capable video I/O subsystem. flame on the Octane2 offers real-time HDTV I/O and an almost two-fold increase in graphics performance.
The new system ships with serial digital I/O support for SMPTE 292M high-definition video and SMPTE 259M standard-definition video. flame 7.2 now supports real-time I/O for all popular HDTV formats including 720P, 1080i and 1080/24p. (CD)
