LEARN ABOUT MAKING MOVIES AT THE EIFF
SKILLSET'S INDUSTRY panels at the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) will guide you through all you need to know about making movies.
The sessions are being held in the Scottish Screen Industry Room at the Point Hotel Conference Centre, 32 Bread Street, Edinburgh, providing anyone working as an emergent filmmaker the opportunity to listen, discuss and ask questions of practitioners with a wide range of experience and industry insight.
If you have registered as an EIFF delegate the sessions are free but you will need to reserve a ticket, as places are limited. To book contact the Industry Office Information Desk at the Delegate centre, 30a Grindlay Street or call Skillset on Tel: 07718 785 906.
From Dream to Reality will take place on August 21 at 2pm. This session will provide information on the sometimes complex issues of raising production finance and getting from script to screen. Sources of production and co-production finance will be explored along with the legal issues that go hand in hand with any production.
Getting On - Wednesday 22nd August, 2.30pm
Drawing on the invaluable information available at the national careers portal skillsformedia, the Getting On session will take place on August 22 at 2.30pm. It will provide guidance for anyone looking to explore further training opportunities within the industry - whether you're wanting to simply keep your skills up to date or move up the ladder.
The Producers Game session will take place on August 23 at 2pm. This session will explain the many different elements and personnel needed to bring a production in on time and on budget, from crewing up to cost reports.
Film, What Film? will take place on August 24 at 2pm. The session will explore all elements of getting a finished film in to the marketplace. From the value of good stills to screenings at festivals, the panellists will discuss all aspects of gaining maximum exposure for a film, and ultimately an audience. (CD)
