BBC TECHNOLOGY DEMONSTRATE MEDIA SOLUTIONS AT IBC

AT IBC 2001 BBC Technology will demonstrate their capability to provide end-to-end media technology solutions, including live and on-demand content capture and delivery to end users via multiple platforms.
Content will be captured using the new Digital Radio Camera, created by BBC Research & Development, for ingest into BBC Technology’s on-stand Media Asset Management (MAM) system.
The MAM system will manage live content delivered by the Digital Radio Camera and other sources, routed via BBC Technology’s BNCS (Broadcast Network Control System), and published live on the stand to multiple devices. Metadata will also be captured and supplemented to enable full control throughout the content lifecycle.
BBC Technology will also showcase their Digital Media Service including media streaming and DVD authoring/encoding services. On the stand BBC Technology will be demonstrating how content is captured, edited on a PC and prepared for web delivery using their Content Management System.
Additionally, a series of seminars will be held on the BBC Technology stand providing the latest thinking on generating a financial return from rich media, analogue to digital conversion, media asset management and interactive television.
Representatives from other areas of BBC Technology will be at IBC, including Consulting & Projects, Media Communications, Broadcast Systems Integration and Media Technology Services. BBC Technology’s BNCS will control all the stand activity and feature a demonstration of live remote broadcasting by deploying an outdoor camera at BBC Television Centre and a communications link with London to deliver live broadcast to the stand.
