NTL APPROACH 0.5M DIGITAL SUBSCRIBERS TARGET

NTL have stated they are confident of signing 500,000 digital customers by the end of the year.
Announcing their preliminary operating statistics for residential services for the quarter ended September 30, 2000. Barclay Knapp, NTL’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are extremely proud of this quarter’s operating performance, having passed a number of operating milestones and obtaining solid initial results from ConsumerCo.”
During the third quarter NTL netted 95,000 digital subscribers, bringing the total number to 325,000.
NTL, which included the figures for the consumer division of Cable and Wireless, they bought last year, said that in CWC areas churn was at a level of 1.9 per cent a month or, on an annual basis, more than one in five customers switching off.
The company said in the three months to the end of September the CWC region added 3,600 users who signed up for both the cable television and the telephony service and 16,300 who signed up for one or other services.
To reach their target of 500,000 digital subscribers NTL must sign a further 175,000 digital customers in the next two months.
