NTL TRIALS NEW BROADBAND PACKAGE

NTL are conducting a commercial trial of a new broadband access package in several parts of the country.
A cross-section of regular NTL users from Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Surrey and Hampshire have been invited to participate.
Approximately 1,000 customers will take part in the three-month trial, which is due to start some time in October. The customers will be offered a choice of subscription levels for an ‘always on’ internet service over NTL’s cable TV network starting from £4.99 per month subscription for speeds of up to 64kbps to £39.99 for speeds of up to 512 kbps.
While both tariffs include use of an NTL-approved cable modem, users will participate in a market research study.
The trial is intended to test demand for broadband access amongst a selected sample of heavy dial-up internet users.
A separate promotion running in NTL’s Cambridgeshire region offers subscribers a choice of: £24.99 per month subscription for speeds of up to 512 kbps (customer must purchase an NTL-approved cable modem) or £39.99 per month including a cable modem (twelve month rental contract) for speeds of up to 512 kbps.
Cambridgeshire is being used as a test area for different price points and payment options for the current service.
NTL say customer demand for broadband access will be reviewed over the coming months as part of their ongoing review of products.
