PACE UNVEIL NEW GATEWAY SET-TOP BOX
PACE Micro Technology have unveiled a new low-cost digital terrestrial home gateway set-top box, with a radical new look and design for digital terrestrial markets in the UK and Europe.
Pace’s third generation digital terrestrial home gateway can be used to deliver free-to-air and/or pay-TV digital television services to new digital homes or subsidiary televisions in homes that have already made the switch to digital. Good news for consumers and broadcasters is lowered costs for switching to digital TV, enabling a larger group of people to join the digital revolution and widening the potential customer base for digital TV services.
The technological design of Pace’s new home gateway is based on a flexible core specification that will enable it to be easily upgraded from a free-to-air solution, to a pay-TV gateway, that can provide advanced pay-TV, interactive and web-browsing services. This provides opportunities for broadcasters to extend the range of their services using Pace’s bespoke technology, tailor-made to their specific needs.
A new processor integrated inside the gateway will also provide the most advanced processing performance of any digital terrestrial home gateway on the market, enabling users to change channels, view the broadcaster’s Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) and access interactive services virtually seamlessly.
Cosmetically, Pace’s DTR500 breaks the mould of other home gateway designs. Pace has worked closely with leading consumer design agency, Tangerine, to produce a sleek, compact and attractive home gateway that is almost half the size of traditional models and can be stored flat [on its side] or standing upright.
