REPORT REVEALS DIGITAL TV IS HITTING HOME
ACCORDING to The Pace Report 2001 consumers are increasingly making the decision to switch to digital TV.
A year ago, 13 per cent of the surveyed consumers were digital TV subscribers, and in the last 12 months that figure has risen to 28 per cent.
Marketing Director at Pace, Andrew Wallace, said: “These results indicate a significant shift in consumer attitudes and show that a growing number of people are ready to embrace the digital interactive vision. People can now see the benefits of switching to digital TV, which can offer so many more features and services than analogue TV, especially the additional content it can offer alongside superior sound and image quality.”
The 2001 Report confirms that the public are aware of the fact that digital TV offers greater choice of viewing and better quality of sound and pictures.
When asked about the types of programming they would like to watch on digital TV 43 per cent of consumers said they would watch news and current affairs programming than any other type of channel, and 42 percent said they liked to watch movies.
Sports and general entertainment were also popular, with 26 per cent saying they would watch these programmes frequently on digital TV.
Research for the Pace Report 2001 was carried out by the Gallup Organisation. A sample of 1,000 randomly selected adults aged 16 and over were interviewed, representative of the population of Great Britain.
