PACE DEMONSTRATE SET TOP BOX INSTALLATION AT IBC

PACE Micro Technology have demonstrated how consumers around the world could register, install and activate their own wireless networked home, using the digital set-top box as a home gateway, in as little as 15 minutes.
Pace are driving the development of the networked home as it evolves the digital set-top box into an interactive home gateway, positioned at the heart of the networked home to act as a portal for interactive communications into, around and out of the home. Key to Pace’s strategy is the drive to make home networking technology simple to install, easy to use and convenient for the consumer and operator.
As part of the strategy, Pace are enabling consumers to activate their own networked home in five simple steps, using a back-end self-provisioning system from Interactive Enterprise called Conexon.
Consumers will plug their home gateway to Pace’s Gateway Expander technology. They are then guided through five simple instructions that will activate the High Speed Data connection between Pace’s Gateway Expander and the service provider’s broadband data pipe. Once activated, Pace’s Gateway Expander will establish the home network infrastructure, enabling two-way communication from the broadband network external to the home, to peripheral electronic devices connected internally to the home network.
Pace’s collaboration with Interactive Enterprise will also enable subscribers to ‘build’ their networked home further by adding additional new products and technologies to their network, as and when they want. (CD)
