Texas Tech selects Telecast gear

Telecast Fiber Systems has announced that Texas Tech Athletics recently doubled the amount of Telecast equipment that it utilises for live video productions of sporting events held at Texas Tech University's football, baseball, basketball, and volleyball arenas.
The Lubbock-based university purchased and installed its second set of Adder, Cobra, and Viper fibre optic transmission systems to support the broadcast of live video from a control room at United Spirit Arena to sporting venues up to two miles away.
The video and audio signals are carried from the on-site cameras at the university's various sports arenas to the control room for editing and other production tasks, and then transmitted back to the arenas for airing on the video boards.
With the Telecast equipment, the Texas Tech Athletics staff obtains full control over the cameras, including power, return video, and intercom functions, as well as all other camera controls.
"Our Telecast equipment enables us to have complete control over our cameras and video signals as if we were on site at the arena. The staff has been amazed that we're able to produce video board content from two miles away, without any logistical problems," said Texas Tech Athletics' director of sports broadcasting, David Hougland. "If we didn't have the equipment, I would have needed to divide our production budget for a control room at each venue. Instead, we were able to simplify our production and labour costs by building one elaborate control room that can handle all of our venues' needs."
