GEARHOUSE INVEST IN DIGITAL DISK RECORDER

THE latest news from London-based Gearhouse Broadcast sees the company investing in state-of-the-art digital disk recorder technology from EVS Broadcast Equipment.
Once the project is completed, Gearhouse Broadcast will have at their disposal 24 EVS Live Slow Motion (LSM) digital disk recorders based on the company’s new HCT-S hardware. As one of the market leaders, extensive research into disk recorders was undertaken by Gearhouse Broadcast over the last six months to ensure that the best suppliers were chosen, EVS proved to be the outright partner of choice.
The decision to purchase these disk recorders was linked to another purchase Gearhouse Broadcast has recently made with the Thomson LDK 23 mkII High Speed camera system. These two products combined, utilising the slow motion function create a powerful sports application.
The new LSM disk recorder is not only a six channel system it is a networkable device, enabling 15 simultaneous real time transfers to occur between multiple network LSM’s. It offers audio editing flexibility due to its support of embedded audio with split audio editing – an important feature when using LSM as a highlights editing device.
The higher bandwidth available on the new LSM allows files to be moved around more efficiently and quickly, there is also a greatly improved picture quality due to the new powerful compression techniques used.
Further use for the products, when they become available will be at the Winter Olympics at Salt Lake City and the 2002 World Cup in Japan and Korea. (CD)
