TANMEDIA TO BECOME AVAILABLE IN FOCAL’S WEBSITE

THE Tanmedia News Service which, for six years through their own website has been the premier location for news about the footage and associated industries, will shortly also be available via the website of Federation of Audiovisual Libraries (FOCAL), the trade association of the commercial audiovisual library industry headquartered in London.
In October the FOCAL web site will be re-launched with a new look and new information sources, including the news service, creating a resource for the organisation's 300-plus members and for newcomers to the industry.
The contract for the re-launch and continuing operational and commercial development of the site has been awarded to John Flewin, whose trading company, Television, Archives and New Media, authors the news service, which to date has featured only on the Tanmedia web site.
Tanmedia have also newly introduced a fully searchable on-line library of footage industry news stories covering the last three years. Using a ‘free text’ search engine, the archive contains a host of reports which charted the rise and rise of the Getty and Corbis image empires, and which continue to follow the companies' progress, plus extensive coverage of the whole industry.
