Rambler goes on air with Geevs servers

Rambler TV Network is the first television channel in Russia to be created by the Television Broadcasting Corporation.
It features an easily recognisable format, unique in the Russian market, and uses the latest interactive technology for signal delivery.
The project's heart of digital technology is its multi-channel Geevs video servers, which are used by different departments for broadcast planning, clip capturing, creating playlists and broadcasting of four channels. The project's first stage features two eight-channel Geevs servers linked via Gigabit Ethernet.
The Rambler TV Network, not being one of the state channels, has been initially conceived and created using digital media. It is therefore easily adapted to numerous modern methods of signal delivery.
"We use satellite, cable, optical fibre and telephone lines. We use the newest technologies and we aspire to create a new system of signal distribution. In the future we are going to offer the choice of programmes in real time," said Oleg Radzinsky, the Rambler TV Network's Chairman.
The Geevs servers' work schedule is for 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. The Matrox Infonet TV System is also integrated with the Geevs servers for additional registration of channels.
The second stage will have all the Geevs servers connected with Fibre Channel and linked to several satellite channels for automatic recording of news. This stage will also include Newsroom technology for operative preparation of news.
