Dating Channel install Geevs playout system

When the Dating Channel needed a reliable and easy to operate system, with full redundancy and automated back-up, to playout their satellite television channel, they turned to Gee Broadcast.
A Dual Geevs Server System provided this robust automated Channel Playout for up to 24 hours per day. Two mirrored Geevs servers, each with one record and two play channels, provide full redundancy for failure protection and also allow easy system upgrades without downtime.
The record channels operate under Geevs Client control for media ingest from tape using Sony RS422 VTR control. Clips captured on one server are copied to the other over a network connection as a background task. These clips can also be trimmed in Geevs if needed.
One play channel on each Geevs server is under automation control by a Pebble Beach Anemone for transmission Playout. The Anemone automation automatically recognises clips captured in Geevs and provides dual server control with status indication. The Anemone control interface can run on a remote networked PC and also via dial-up for changes to be made or for status monitoring from remote locations. While a master Anemone transmission Playlist controls the Geevs server channels for playout, the second play channel on each server remains under Geevs client control for reviewing media and creating sub-clips. These play channels can also be used for emergency playout.
An Evertz Quattro provides a four channel output-monitoring system and will provide automatic fail over to an alternative output if video or audio output is lost or freezes. Triggering of an emergency sequence on the secondary play channel, if both normal outputs are lost, provides a further protection level.
A separate SDI switch provides not only automated switching between servers and a live feed, but also manual override. GPI events in the Anemone playlist can trigger both this switching or other events such as station logo or caption insertion.
Finally Anemone and Geevs both generate 'as run logs' for billing and other management tasks.
This system provides both a high level of redundancy and flexible operation for up to 24 hours per day all in a compact and affordable package.
