FILM COUNCIL ANNOUNCE £690,000 INVESTMENT
THE Film Council's New Cinema Fund have announced their investment of £690,000 in FilmFour and New Cinema Fund's ‘Once Upon A Time In The Midlands’, the latest feature by acclaimed the British writer and director Shane Meadows.
The film, co-written by Paul Fraser, has just completed a busy six-week shooting schedule in and around Nottingham.
The film's all-star cast includes: Robert Carlyle, Rhys Ifans, Kathy Burke , Shirley Henderson, Ricky Tomlinson, and features cameos from, Vic Reeves, Bob Mortimer and Vanessa Feltz.
In ‘Once Upon A Time In The Midlands’ Dek's idea of a tug of love is deciding between his girlfriend Shirley or his Ford Sierra. That is, until Shirley's ex Jimmy rides into town with bags of cash, charisma and a wicked left hook. The scene's set for a showdown, and an unlikely hero emerges.
‘Once Upon A Time In The Midlands’ is produced by Andrea Calderwood of Slate Films. The film is financed by the FilmFour, the New Cinema Fund, Senator Film and East Midlands Media Initiative (EMMI).
The project was developed at FilmFour by James Wilson who serves as co-producer along with Louise Knight. Executive producers are Paul Webster, Hanno Huth and Head of the New Cinema Fund Paul Trijbits.
FilmFour will distribute in the UK and are handling international sales. Senator Films are handling the German distribution. (CD)
