New Digital Director Appointed For BBC News
Naja Nielsen has been appointed Digital Director for BBC News.
Naja joins the BBC with over 20 years' experience in journalism and digital development, most recently as Chief Journalism Officer for ORB Media in Washington DC where she is responsible for the organisation’s editorial and business strategy, digital development, and managing a global collaboration model with other media partners.
Prior to that Naja was Head of News at Danish broadcaster DR, where she oversaw major news stories, rebuilt the organisation’s breaking news operation and led the development of new products and tools to reach mobile and socially connected audiences.
In 2014 Naja was a visiting scholar at Stanford University, producing a report on Journalism in the Digital Age, and before that held news, current affairs and events positions at DR. She oversaw DR’s election coverage across digital, TV and radio for nearly a decade.
In her BBC role Naja will be responsible for developing the BBC News’ digital services across all platforms, working with colleagues across the organisation to create a digital portfolio that serves all audiences. She’ll also manage relationships with external partners and platforms.
