TV4 PICKS DEKOCAST FOR BRANDING STRATEGY

TV4, Sweden’s largest commercial television station, have purchased a DekoCast from Pinnacle Systems to use for channel branding.
When it is fully operational, DekoCast will be driven by the automation with no need for an operator.
TV4 are planning to be a truly multi-channel environment. They already control two channels and have applied for two more, one for sports and one for news. Within the existing set-up there are also 16 local TV stations and four web TV stations.
The new channel branding system will ensure all the channels are instantly recognisable with their own identities, which will include graphics, effects and titling.
Pinnacle’s DekoCast was chosen for this because, according to David Österland, Development Manager, Broadcast, TV4, it is the only product that could do the job. He explained: “DekoCast is designed for a job like this. There is no other tool that combines this degree of functionality with the ability for automatic operation.”
At the moment the DekoCast is working as a simple CG, doing titles for the re-transmission of the CNN News.
The DekoCast was purchased from Pinnacle’s Swedish partner, Danmon. It is not the broadcaster’s first Deko system as they already have an FXDeko and Deko 500.
DekoCast is a complete master control solution integrated into a single product. It is the first real-time broadcast system to integrate a character generator, two-channel video and audio clip player, 24- track audio mixer and router, multi-channel DVE and advanced compositing engine within a unified hardware platform that be controlled by a single operator. The result is a streamlined, cost-effective solution for tackling new broadcast challenges including localisation of content, managing increasing numbers of channels for DTV and channel branding without escalating overheads.
