Compulite Vector chosen for ‘Top of the Pops’

Stagetec Distribution have supplied a Compulite Vector lighting console for the BBC’s production of the all new Top of the Pops (TOTP).
Vector is the first lighting workstation that lets the operator work the way he wants to work. Its dual processor system provides the operator with a user-friendly windows environment to work in, while ensuring the optimum stability and speed.
Lighting director Dave Davey commented: “Returning to TOTP I was keen to ask lighting operator Bill Peachment to work as my assistant on the show and to take control of the automated lighting operation. Bill and I had a discussion about the best way of controlling and programming large rigs of lights of all types and as always my main concern was to achieve good results quickly and efficiently.
“Bill suggested we should try the Vector, the latest technology to come from the ever reliable stable of Compulite lighting desks. Having used Compulite Sparks, Microns and Sabres in the past I was very interested to see how Compulite systems had evolved and to put the Vector through its paces on a live music show.
“The Vector has not disappointed. The Vector has proved to be a great tool for TV lighting and music performances. Bill has been working with Compulite desks for many years and has had no problems in mastering the operation of the Vector. The desk is capable of controlling very large rigs and programming and updating of cues is simple and fast. I have been very impressed by the Vector and will be looking forward to using this desk in the future.”
