Dedicated 'Indies Post Producer' appointed at BBC Post Production

BBC Post Production London is introducing a dedicated Indies Post Producer to support customers from the independent sector.
Post Producer Richie Cohen takes up this new role this month. Cohen has been with BBC Post Production for four years working across genres and clients, most recently project managing BBC Broadcast's move from Television Centre to the Broadcast Centre.
Cohen's new position with BBC Post Production will meet the growing customer demand and facilitate easy working for programme-makers external to the BBC.
Recent projects for independent production companies include re-mastering work for Optimum Releasing, HD work for Rainbow and A&E and editing for the Live Aid DVD for the Band Aid Charitable Trust and Warner Vision. The latter remained top of the DVD charts for a number of weeks when it was released at the end of 2004.
Cohen said: "With over 100 editors on staff, BBC Post Production has some of the most talented, experienced and creative people in the business. We have greatly improved the overall customer experience which has resulted in much success with our indie clients and we want to ensure that this trend continues. My role is to open up the door to independent production teams wanting to take advantage of our facilities. We have the flexibility to accommodate any programme, large or small - and when you need six edits by tomorrow, we can normally pull some strings!"
BBC Post Production is part of BBC Resources, a wholly owned commercial subsidiary of the BBC. BBC Resources already carries out a significant amount of work for the independent sector and has worked with TWI, North One, Sunset + Vine, Open Mic, Talkback, Hatrick and RDF Media.
