PESKY GET STRESSED WITH CHANNEL 4

COMMISSIONED by Camilla Deakin at Channel Four, Pesky’s ‘Stress Maniacs’ – the psychobabble game show played in suspected animation - aired on December 5, aka ‘Outrageous Night’, part of the channel’s Hot Reels: Animation Grand Prix.
‘Stress Maniacs’ is an animated game show where three real stressed-out contestants compete for a weekend break at a luxury spa.
The show was initially recorded in a radio studio. The game’s very real contestants were then animated, with comic artistic licence, to appear in front of live audience on a vast stage set, and doing things that only a cartoon game show could ever get away with on TV.
Re-birthed into ‘suspended animation’, the contestants enter the evangelical world of Cameron Ripple – relaxation guru. After three bizarre rounds inspired by psychobabble, the show climaxes with the winner reaching “Ripple’s Ranch on High”.
Created in Flash and After Effects, ‘Stress Maniacs’ was developed by Pesky’s David Hodgson and Claire Underwood and written by Mark Huckerby and Nick Ostler of The Pox. (CD)
