New Game Show Heads To BBC One
A new game show is set to air on Saturday nights on BBC One in the run up to Sport Relief 2018.
The series – And They're Off For Sport Relief – will be presented by Ore Oduba and will involve a number of celebrities as they take part in various obstacle courses (such as running through mud or zipping down giant water slides) before one final showdown.
Celebrities expected to participate in the show include Michael Owen, Helen Glover and Mike Tindall, as well as Stacey Solomon, Russell Kane, Saira Khan and Penny Lancaster.
For members of the public, they will also be able to play along from the studio with Ore, where if they correctly predict which celebrity will triumph during each race, they could win an experience of a lifetime.
The series will also feature visits to a number of Comic Relief funded projects, including Tom Daley visiting health projects in Malawi and Stacey Solomon visiting a maternal mental health project in the UK.
And They're Off For Sport Relief is made for BBC One by STV Productions, with the format co-developed by Motion Content Group. It has been commissioned by Controller of BBC Entertainment Kate Phillips and Commissioning Editor, Entertainment and Daytime Jo Street. It will be executive produced by Gary Chippington for STV Productions.
Kate Phillips, Controller of BBC Entertainment, said: "And They're Off For Sport Relief is muddy, funny, family viewing and of course it will be raising money for Sport Relief 2018, truly a win win."
Gary Chippington, Head of Entertainment, STV Productions, added: "We're delighted to be making And They're Off For Sport Relief for BBC1 – it's a great mix of a dramatic quiz with even more dramatic races. And, it's all for a great cause – so even more incentive to tune in and cheer on your favourite."
The first episode of And They're Off For Sport Relief will air on BBC One on 6 January, 2018. Sport Relief 2018 will air live from MediaCityUK on 23 March.
