LACEY SCOOPS SKILLSET AWARD

PAUL Lacey, of Caernarfon, is the first Apprentice in the UK to achieve the new Skillset Modern Apprenticeship framework in Camera.
His new professional qualification includes Key Skills and the Skillset NVQ Camera Operations, level 3.
He received his certificate from Lord Puttnam of Queensgate CBE, Patron of Skillset, at the recent Skillset/Michael Samuelson Awards Ceremony in London.
Lacey is employed as an Assistant Cameraman by Lighting Cameraman Richard Wyn Huws of Penygroes. He was also Lacey’s NVQ Assessor. Lacey has been working for Wyn Huws since 1999, developing the vocational skills needed to one day emulate his employer as a respected cameraman.
Lacey has always wanted a career in television. Whilst at Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen, Caernarfon, he had work experience at Barcud Derwen. With ten GCSEs, he went to Coleg Menai where he gained an Advanced GNVQ in Media.
On completing the course, he was employed as a Trainee Camera Assistant by experienced Lighting Cameraman, Wyn Huws. Through Cyfle, the training company for the film, television and interactive media industry in Wales, he was registered as a Modern Apprentice to ensure he followed a structured vocational training plan, which included working towards the Skillset NVQ level 3 in Camera Operations.
