Doughty Prepares For Another Successful BVE

News Image
Doughty Engineering will debut its new Lightweight Lighting Stand at this year's BVE.

Visitors to stand G35 can also expect to see the Space Saver Omega which was launched at PLASA 2017 as well as the Three Position Tank Trap, Pole Operated Yoke, Articulated Carriage and a range of other kit designed with the broadcast industry in mind.

Dan Phillips, Project Sales Co-Ordinator at Doughty said: "We're bringing quite a range of kit to the show this year – some of which, like the Articulated Carriage, which makes it possible to move scenery panels on our Studio Rail curves, is designed with our broadcast customers in mind. Meanwhile, other items like the Space Saver Omega work well across the entertainment industry. Our new Lightweight Lighting Stand is currently a prototype which means that any feedback given by visitors to our stand will be passed on to our R&D department so that their comments can be considered before the product goes into production."

The Pole Operated Yoke was the star attraction on Doughty's stand at last year's BVE and is returning this year as one of the company's most popular pieces of kit. Doughty chose the show as the platform to launch this piece of kit which is modular in design and can be made exactly to customer specification from existing stock – hence a quick turnaround between order and delivery. Designed to stretch and shorten to fit any sized light, the yoke is fitted to a light with two cups which pan and tilt – and being pole operated, this enables the operator to make any adjustments from the ground, taking away the need to have ladders cluttering up the set and posing potential safety hazards.

Julian Chiverton, Sales Director, commented: "The feedback we get from our customers in the broadcast industry at BVE is invaluable to our product development team. Some pieces of kit we design specifically with this industry in mind, others we design for the theatrical world but with a bit of feedback we can look at how we can get our product range to work well across the board. We don't see the value in trying to persuade a broadcast customer that a piece of theatrical kit will do the job for them or vice versa, when it's entirely possible to take what we learn from our customers at shows such as this and develop products which tick the boxes for everyone."
