VMI's New Headquarters Designed To Be Energy Efficient
After 20 years in north west London, VMI Camera Rentals has moved into a brand new facility in West London.
As well as providing state-of-the-art test rooms and engineering spaces, VMI's new headquarters have been designed to be highly energy efficient.
The 10,000 square feet facility features low energy, cool running LED light panels throughout. This delivers a considerable reduction in power usage not only in terms of room lighting but also through lower air conditioning requirements. Furthermore, in order to reduce the environmental impact of equipment transport, the selected location enjoys easy access to North Acton underground station - 100m walk - while also being in close proximity to Central and West London Studios.
VMI's MD, Barry Bassett comments: "We have always been a think green company, encouraging employees to cycle to work and facilitating remote working wherever possible. Our growth as a business over the past five years means that we can now move to premises that are larger, better appointed and more environmentally sustainable. We're very excited about being a mere 20 minutes from the centre of London."
Facilities at the new offices include include two purpose-built camera test rooms and dedicated engineering and lens projection rooms. This will help production crews to test fully during camera prep in a comfortable and totally customised environment.
The need for increased space was created by strong growth in equipment rental, especially in the domain of large sensor cameras. In recent months, VMI's services have been used by such high profile productions as the BBC's "Planet Word" with Stephen Fry and the forthcoming "Bert & Dickie", Sky Arts HD's "The Ronnie Wood Radio Show" and "Leonardo Live". A growing product range that now includes the new Canon C300 and Red Scarlet, alongside a wealth of new film lenses, should sustain the continued demand for kit hire over the coming year.
To mark the opening of the facility, VMI is holding a new-products open day on Wednesday 8th February with a shoot-out of ten exciting large sensor cameras.
