InPhase awarded NTA contract
InPhase Technologies have been awarded a contract by the US National Technology Alliance (NTA) to develop system electronics, data formats, and electronic and logical interfaces for its InPhase Tapestry HDS drive, to be used by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).
The holographic drive will be used in applications that archive geospatial and surveillance data.
The contract, specified at approximately $800,000 in 2004, will enable the Tapestry HDS drive to be connected to host computers using a standard interface that will be tuned to NGA applications.
This latest award marks the fifth contract that InPhase Technologies has received from the NTA, dating back to 1992. InPhase introduced an early prototype of their Tapestry holographic storage system and media in 2002, and is delivering product today to OEMs for test and evaluation, ramping into volume production in 2005.
