Pro-Bel wins BBC Mailbox contract

BBC Birmingham has selected four Pro-Bel Sirius routers for installation at its new hi-tech Birmingham facility, BBC Mailbox.
BBC Mailbox, the largest mixed-use development in Europe, replaces the BBC's famous Pebble Mill studios, which are also situated in the Midlands city. As well as playing host to BBC Birmingham, the new building, which stands on the grounds of the city's old Post Office sorting centre, close to New Street Station, will also house shops, two hotels, restaurants, bars and offices.
The routers will form the heart of three of BBC Mailbox's facilities within the new complex including Post Production and English regions.
The first two routers for Post Production include a 128x128 stereo analogue audio Sirius matrix and a 64x64 SDI Sirius with 48x64 timecode. The transmission facility will take delivery of a Sirius128x128 SDI and stereo audio router, which will be supplied by Basingstoke-based systems integrator DEGA Broadcast Systems.
Suffolk-based systems integrator Independent Project Engineering (IPE) will supply a Sirius 128 router fitted 80x80 analogue audio, 48x48 AES, which will form the core of Mailbox's Local Radio facility. The purchase of each of the Pro-Bel routers was handled by BBC Technology.
