CALREC LAUNCH NEW DIGITAL DESK

CALREC Audio have launched a brand new digital mixing console, a remote production version of the Alpha 100 digital mixing console, which absorbs all digital and analogue processing into the same physical footprint as the control surface.
Calrec's Sales and Marketing Director, John Gluck, said: "Space is at an absolute premium in remote vehicles, and the new Alpha 100-OB console is the only on-air digital production desk to incorporate all the GPI and system processor cards - as well as all the analogue and DSP racks - within a standard four section control surface. All interfacing and cabling has clear and open access from the front of the desk and we have been very careful not to compromise operator comfort by maintaining a generous footwell. The Alpha 100-OB is the only digital broadcast console able to incorporate the entire processing system in this way."
Calrec's internal engineering design department and sophisticated AUTOCAD system enables the desk to be custom designed for a variety of sizes, ranging from a 60 fader/120 input console with a physical footprint of just 2.39m².
The Alpha 100 provides 24 hours a day live to air audio production for major broadcasters both in North America and in Europe.
In the US, NBC have on-air status at New York's Rockefeller Centre, KXAS in Texas and WTVJ in Florida.
The Ackerley Group also have an Alpha on board their digital OB unit in Seattle while NBC's KNSD in California are installing a 32 fader board.
In Europe, Germany's WDR have an Alpha installed in a remote production unit, with SIC in Portugal operating Alpha 100 consoles both in a remote unit and a dedicated 24 hour news studio.
In the UK the BBC, Channel Four and Granada TV have all installed Alpha consoles for live broadcast.
