Aurora launches low-cost PipePro SDI Card

Aurora Video Systems have announced the release of their new PipePro SDI video capture and editing card, a high-performance yet extremely cost-effective addition to the Aurora Pipe product family.
The PipePro, priced at $799.00, allows editors to take advantage of the RT Extreme capabilities within Final Cut Pro. Both the PipePro and the original Aurora Pipe system, now priced at $499.00, provide an affordable solution for online and offline editors working with a variety of formats, from uncompressed to DV.
"This unheard of pricing scheme for the PipePro makes it the lowest-cost card capable of providing a complete solution for users ranging from the home-based videographer or 'prosumer' to the professional broadcaster. PipePro is the first truly professional 10-bit solution at this unprecedented price point. Unlike other products which merely link directly to a deck or Firewire devices, which sacrifice performance and features, PipePro will connect to most audio and video devices, thus providing users a greater level of creativity and flexibility than ever before," said Aurora Video Systems CEO Darryl Hock. "Anyone who plans to take advantage of Final Cut Pro - and RT Extreme in particular - for online and offline editing in a digital environment will find PipePro fits the bill in terms of price, features, and performance."
Aurora Pipe cards integrate seamlessly with Final Cut Pro and After Effects so that editors can take advantage of new technologies such as RT Extreme. The new PipePro video capture and editing card outperforms more expensive competing devices and offers 10 bit inputs and outputs across the board. The card features an SDI input, which enables editors to connect directly to a DigiBeta deck, while two SDI outputs allow for a direct connection to an external video monitor and to a digital deck controlled via PipePro's RS 422 serial port. Simultaneously PipePro can output analogue video via composite, S video and YUV connections facilitating video monitoring on a lower-cost analogue solution and laying off to analogue decks such as BetaSP.
