Aurora Video Systems releases new IgniterX driver

Aurora Video has announced a new driver release for its IgniterX and IgniterX Lite video capture and editing cards.
Aurora has introduced a series of enhancements intended to enable more versatile postproduction working with 24-fps material and to heighten overall operation of IgniterX cards.
"As more and more professional and 'prosumer' clients have moved toward use of 24-fps material and sought more affordable means of digitising footage for postproduction, the IgniterX family has increasingly become the popular choice for video capture and editing," said Aurora Video Systems CEO Darryl Hock. "The new IgniterX driver addresses the evolving needs of these customers while maintaining the superior compression and image quality in a card that saves users both hard drive space and time."
Aurora's IgniterX family of video capture and editing cards for the Mac OS integrates smoothly with Final Cut Pro to provide ease of use and tightly integrated control over digitising and playback drivers. This latest driver release offers IgniterX users greater flexibility in working with film by providing added support for Panasonic decks' Advanced Mode. Film support also has been extended, offering users a choice between standard 2:3:2:3 pulldown or 2:3:3:2 pulldown in projects using NTSC 24-fps content.
For systems with greater than 2GB of RAM, Aurora also has optimised the reporting of the system memory in the Ignition Preference pane. The new driver ensures that images are exported smoothly by the IgniterX 10-bit eXtreme codec and gives users the ability to capture PAL DV content directly to any of Apple's DV codecs using the lower field first.
The IgniterX family of video capture and editing cards is a versatile product range beginning with a base card that offers both hardware-based variable MJPEG-A compression and decompression in addition to uncompressed video.
