Profanity Delay For ITV Sport At Boxing, Wembley

News Image
Time Delay TV provided its profanity delay equipment for the live transmission broadcast for the Chris Eubank Jnr v Arthur Abraham fight at Wembley.

The broadcast was transmitted for ITV and Telegenic provided the live facilities for the broadcaster.

Time Delay TV ensured that there were no slips of the tongue in the ring as well as the over enthusiastic audience.

Darryl Rose, Managing Director, Time Delay.tv, says: "These days, it's not just about the presenters using four letter words, but also about the profanity in the ring and ringside which can include profanity. We worked with the broadcaster and the sports management to either self censor, omit or take the risk of being muted by our equipment on a five-second delay."

Sky's flagship TV show 'Soccer SM' uses the equipment for the odd slip up of a guest's tongue, along with Channel 4's Surgery Live, Big Brother, ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, The V Festival, MTV EMAs and various live streamed internet events.

Time Delay.tv is Europe's only company dedicated to Broadcast Compliance of Live TV and uses their HD/SD Pipeline machines, which can instantly cut out profanity words and/or pictures.

Time Delay.tv has worked on many other live, reality and entertainment shows over the years including The BBC Music Awards, The Mobo Awards, Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, Time Team and Hell's Kitchen.

As soon as the offending word or sentence is heard, a button is pressed for as long as the offence occurs. A built-in reaction time is triggered, and five or 10 seconds later the word comes out clean by inserting an auxiliary video/audio source.

In a live situation, there is no second chance so decision making has to be spontaneous, and accurate. Time Delay.tv gives the broadcasters this cushion.
