Soho Editors Appointed Blackmagic Design's First Certified Training Partner

News Image
In April 2017, Blackmagic announced the launch of a new Authorised Training program to be rolled out worldwide and Soho Editors are pleased to announce they have been appointed the first Certified Training Partner in the UK.

Brian Cantwell, Managing Director of Soho Editors, said: "We have been working with Blackmagic for a number of years developing courses and content and it has long been the goal to establish a fully certified program that would provide a quality assured training experience across the world."

He went on to say: "When we were approached by Blackmagic, we were more than happy to support this new initiative and we also provided the location for the worlds first train the trainer course in March '17 for 12 trainers."

Patty Montesion, Director, WW Training & Certification Blackmagic Design, said: "We are incredibly pleased to have a company like Soho Editors join our program. The program will initially start with DaVinci Resolve Editing curriculum and certification and DaVinci Resolve Color curriculum and certification. We will quickly grow to include Fusion, IRSA mini, BMD End-to-End workflow, etc. We are excited to start educating our customer base and give every user the opportunity to become an expert. To accomplish this we will partner with only the best training and education facilities and institutions to deliver our certified curriculum."

Soho Editors currently offer five DaVinci Resolve courses for colour graders and editors, including the first officially certified Editing with DaVinci Resolve course alongside their extensive range of manufacturer and bespoke training programs from Apple, Adobe, Avid and Maxon.

Blackmagic Design chose Soho Editors for a number of reasons. Those include the fact that they have been delivering high end professional post production training for over 17 years, to over 25,000 industry creatives across the globe. In addition to the training arm they are also highly integrated within the post production industry through their freelance talent agency which regularly works with all the leading content creators, from facilities and broadcasters, to production and corporate clients. They also added a new Freelance Production Crewing service in March this year.

Brian said: "The recent announcement at NAB from BMD of the public beta version of the latest release DaVinci Resolve 14, will shake things up a bit. The addition of a new audio editing and mixing tool set has now made DaVinci Resolve 14 a three for one tool. With world beating colour grading, professional editing and now a full audio set of tools all included for a little over £240 means this one software package can now edit, grade, mix and finish all in one."

All Soho Editors courses are available from their state-of-the-art training centres in London and Manchester, or offsite at a client's location. They are all also available with an early bird discount of up to 30%.
