BBC TECHNOLOGY AWARDED AUDIO-VISUAL CONTRACT

HUTCHISON 3G UK, holders of one of the UK’s largest third-generation mobile phone licence, have announced that they have awarded BBC Technology a contract to manage the production of their audio-visual content.
The content will be accessible through Hutchison 3G’s next-generation wireless service.
The five-year collaboration will be based in a centre in West London, where BBC Technology will process and edit content on behalf of Hutchison 3G. Before the content, including news and entertainment, can be sent to next generation subscribers it requires processing and converting into a format that can be delivered to third-generation wireless devices.
Philip Langsdale, Chief Executive of BBC Technology, said: “Hutchison 3G requires cutting edge content production technology. BBC Technology are best positioned to deliver this because of our deep understanding of broadcasting, substantial IT engineering experience and editorial expertise. BBC Technology is delighted to be working with Hutchison 3G on the audio visual content for their third-generation wireless devices.”
