Glasgow to become 'Freelance Haven'

Freelance Haven, an event aimed at freelancers from throughout the television industry, is to be held at Tiger Tiger in Glasgow on the evening of Wednesday November 19.
The event aims to get freelancers involved in setting the agenda for continuing professional development of their skills and talent, as well as allowing them to enjoy the company of their peers and leading representatives from BBC Scotland, Scottish TV, C4, Skillset, Pact in Scotland, Bectu and Scottish Screen.
John McCormick, Controller of BBC Scotland, will set the scene with an introduction laying down the challenges that lie ahead for the industry in Scotland. The event will then split into workshops to help identify the training and development priorities of television freelancers. The event will close with an opportunity to network over drinks and canapes.
Feedback from these sessions will be used to inform the content of future professional development programmes. Over the coming months the organisers plan to develop a series of evening events mixing real learning opportunities with the chance to catch up and enjoy a drink in an informal setting with colleagues and industry representatives.
Entrance is free, but capacity is limited. Call +44 (0) 141 222 2633 to register.
