Pepper complete post on ‘Job Street’

Leading post-production facility Pepper recently completed the online and grade for ‘Job Street’.
Nominated for a TCM Classic Shorts award, this 10-minute short was inspired by a series of articles in The Guardian and producer Fiona Neilson (In This World, Code 46) decided to take the project to Pepper following the work they did on Michael Winterbottom’s ‘In This World’
Fiona Neilson, Producer, said: “I regard ‘Job Street’ almost as a continuation of ‘In This World’ and as such the creative route for the post was inspired by this. Pepper, who had played such an integral part of that production, were an invaluable part of our team and completely involved with all aspects of the production.”
Filmed entirely on location, ‘Job Street’ follows three illegal immigrants through a day in their lives as part of the black market workforce, which is allegedly ‘run’ from a street in north London. Shot on DV-CAM, Pepper’s Jethro Harris advised the production on controlling the highlights during shooting to produce an image that would enable colourist, Dan Coles to complete the grade by giving the project the raw, gritty, filmic effect required.
Dan Coles, Colourist, Pepper commented: “The nature of the story is in contrast with the glossy look that shooting on video often produces, the benefit of filters and lack of additional light ensured I was able to use the grade to reflect the narrative and so create the desired effect.”
Job Street was nominated for the Turner Classic Movies Classic Shorts award whose judges included Bernardo Bertolucci, Barry Norman and Ralph Fiennes.
