Pepper install Edifis Finaliser system

Hot on the heels of reporting strong profits in its first year of trading since the management buy-out led by Patrick Holzen and Shane Warden, leading London post house Pepper has installed Finaliser, the powerful and cost-effective colour processor and finishing system from Edifis.
Holzen said of Pepper’s continued investment in new kit: “After disposing of the Ursa Diamond Suite in May, we were looking for a SD and HD work flow solution for tape originated projects to compliment the Spirit and C-Reality Telecine suites. Besides the speed and quality benefits of the Finaliser grading tools, what impressed me most about this system, is the ability to create all the versioning and deliverables (including 525 NTSC) in SD and HD within the same system.”
Finaliser provides extensive creative capabilities in disk-based and tape-to-tape colour correction, in HD as well as standard definition. Pepper sees it as a way of providing colourist-driven realtime grading and effects at affordable rates for features, dramas and documentaries as well as commercials and promos.
Colourist Dan Coles is the Finaliser advocate at Pepper. “I believe having Finaliser will open the door to many lower budget tape-originated productions,” he said. “It will add an exciting dimension to our grading services for new and existing clients, and strengthen Pepper’s commitment to excellence in all aspects of broadcast post production.”
Richard Lilley of Edifis, developers of Finaliser, added: “Finaliser provides all of the attributes of a Pogle or a Da Vinci colour processor, plus effects like glow and defocus, with no rendering, ever. It gives the colourist more time to be creative – it is not about getting the job out in half the time, it is about spending twice as long making it perfect.”
