Gearhouse Broadcast adopt Thomson Grass Valley WorldCam

Thomson, the worldwide leader in video and film technologies, products and services, have announced that Gearhouse Broadcast, a worldwide leader in broadcast rental and sales solutions, has purchased multiple Grass Valley LDK 6000 mk II WorldCam high-definition (HD) cameras.
Already one of the most popular acquisition systems for live sports and entertainment programming, the LDK 6000 mk II systems will be used by Gearhouse Broadcast on its global rental and fly-pack projects. The cameras will come complete with five-inch HD viewfinders, ensuring they are one of the highest specification HD production cameras on the market.
Gearhouse Broadcast has provided services to numerous broadcasters including ABC-TV, ARD/ZDF, BBC, ESPN Star Sports, Sky Sports TV, The Seven Network, Turner Broadcasting, and Tennis Properties Limited (TPL) as part of the Tennis Masters Series. The company will divide its complement of LDK 6000 mk II systems between all of its current facilities, in Los Angeles - the first US rental company to buy the camera - as well as London and Sydney.
"Our technology investment decisions are driven by the first-class relationships we have built with studios and OB companies across the globe," said Stephen Chadwick, chief operating officer for Gearhouse Broadcast, USA. "There's no doubt that the Grass Valley LDK 6000 mk II WorldCam has been a product in much demand. We're seeing it used by a lot of producers for SD and HD productions, both in Europe and in the US, so we consider our purchase a natural step to have taken."
The cameras will be added to Gearhouse Broadcast's extensive equipment portfolio and will front the company's first-ever HD fly-pack system, which has just been launched in the US. The fly-pack will be used on a variety of applications including sports, drama, light entertainment, and music productions.
As part of Gearhouse Broadcast's ongoing strategy to provide the best in HD production equipment, the cameras will be offered with a complementary range of Canon HD lenses.
