Launch Of Females In The Broadcast Industry
Females in the Broadcast Industry (FBI) has officially launched, bringing together the industry's top women and associations to create thought-provoking panel discussions and networking events.
The group is aimed at women working in non-craft roles in the broadcast industry; such as sales, operations, marketing, engineering and business.
The advisory panel includes:
• Sadie Groom, Managing Director, Bubble & Squeak
• Lesley Johnson, Operations Director, BBC Worldwide
• David Dowling, Vice President of Sales for EMEA and APAC, Ross Video
• Nicki Fisher, EMEA Sales Director, Clear-Com
• Samantha Arlow, Area Sales Manager, Five Arrows Media Finance
• Charlotte Wheeler, Event Director, Media Business Insight
• Anne-Louise Buick, Head of TV Compression Portfolio Marketing, Ericsson
• Molly Connolly, WW Strategist for Media & Entertainment, Dell
• Stephanie Genin, Vice President of Global Field Marketing Technology, Avid
• Jessica Hawkes, Account Manager, Bubble & Squeak
Following successful panels at industry events throughout 2015 – including BVE and IBC – the initiative plans on hosting further events in 2016, including CABSAT and NAB.
"After the great success of the two events that we have already held at IBC and the discussion and coverage that this generated we decided to formalise the group and open up membership," explained Sadie Groom, founder of the FBI initiative and Managing Director of Bubble & Squeak. "We hope that women, and men, will join us to start a real discussion on the issues involved and come to our events with ideas for what the broadcast industry can be doing better to encourage women to come into this sector. In addition, we hope this will result in more women holding senior positions across the industry."
Membership is free and open to all men and women within the industry. To become a member, or for more information, visit the Females in Broadcast website.
