£2.2 million for Liverpool film and TV industry

North West Vision, the film and television agency for North West England, has made its first awards from the Merseyside TV and Film Development Fund (MFTDF) Objective One Fund.
Five Merseyside-based companies are to benefit from over £375,000 of investment that will collectively create around 60 jobs and generate turnover of approx £4 million over the next three years. As well as attracting the best talent and projects to the region, the fund is working to build a professional infrastructure that can offer skills and services that are the equal of anything else in the UK.
Among the companies awarded is the multi-award winning RED Productions ('Queer As Folk', 'Clocking Off') who have set up a subsidiary on Merseyside and are currently filming the ITV drama 'Big Dippers' starring Jimmy Nesbitt ('Cold Feet').
Commenting on the awards, Alice Morrison, Chief Executive of North West Vision, said: "We are proud to match the skill, passion and commitment of these companies with properly tailored financial support, backed up with on-going advice, contacts and support.
“These awards are just the beginning of a process that will see us distribute over £2.2 million of Objective One funding to Merseyside's film, television and digital media sector over the next 24 months. The enduring legacy will be a first class infrastructure capable of supporting the very best talent and the most creative projects in Europe."
