Industry figures welcome UK 3D graphics event
Industry leaders have welcomed the announcement of a major new event for the 3D graphics community, which will take place in the fourth quarter of 2004.
The CGI festival will cover both the North and the South taking place in London and Leeds. The London festival will be at the Business Design Centre from 7-8 December and in Leeds at the Royal Armouries Museum from 9-10 November 2004.
Both events, which are unique in the UK, have received an enthusiastic welcome from leading figures in the 3D industry with commitments already in place from Discreet, Maxon, Softimage and 3D Labs to support these new events.
Nick Manning at Discreet said: “We were pleased to hear the announcement of CGI Festival North & South and are looking forward to a much needed series of events dedicated to the 3D market.”
Mark Cass of Alias highlighted the need for a new event in the 3D market: “Alias welcome the news of the planned CGI Festival North/South events particularly because of the empty trade show space that currently exists for the 3D entertainment markets. We are looking forward to showcasing ‘Maya’ at both events.”
The events will feature a major conference and screenings of the best 3D content from around the world and will be developed in close co-operation with the 3D community.
This was welcomed by Perry Stacy CEO of Maxon UK: “Maxon are delighted to see a dedicated 3D show especially one that is working so closely with major software developers. The Guys at CGI festival have really done their homework and have come up with a show that is fresh, informative and set to make every attendee pleased that they came.”
The organisers say that the festival will not just consist of presentations and masterclasses, but will also feature a Networking Pavilion where you can register your details to find out where the next project is being commissioned, and a Screenings Theatre which will be showcasing new work from new companies as well as new artists.
