Channel 4 Education Commissions Stripped Bare Series
Channel 4 Education has commissioned Factory Films to produce a series of six All 4 Shorts called Stripped Bare.
In each short a different person shows us how they choose to control the image they present to the world. Starting barefaced and filmed with a purpose built two-way mirror, Factory Films captures the intimate and creative process of how they change the way they look, often with makeup, in order to present a face to the world they believe is integral to their identity.
An albino punk, a transgender woman, an Essex girl with an anxiety disorder, a teen with alopecia, a shy overweight woman turned vintage vamp and a drag queen all describe how they take control of their lives by taking control of their looks.
Each episode will end with them revealing one side of their face made up and the other stripped completely bare.
The series will explore the importance of the masks we wear and how empowering it can be take control of our body image, but also acknowledges the real person that lies beneath.
The series was commissioned by Channel 4 Education commissioning editor, Emily Jones for All 4 Shorts and will be produced by Factory Films. Stripped Bare marks Channel 4’s third commission for Factory Films, following the success of its online documentaries Shooting the Migrants and Gay Sex, Apps and Me.
Stripped Bare director & Factory Films co-founder, Julie Heathcote, said, "The series reveals how much deeper the process of applying make-up is for some people. It can allow a transition into a different persona, amplify their personality or give a huge confidence boost. The films are beautifully shot and the stories we hear are emotional & inspiring."
