Impressive slate of British films to premiere at UK Film Focus

Pathé International’s highly anticipated 'Breakfast On Pluto', Neil Jordan’s new film set in London and Ireland during the 1970s and starring Cillian Murphy and Liam Neeson, is one of a number of the films being premiered at the London UK Film Focus (LUFF) from June 27 - July 30 2005.
Over two dozen titles will screen during this three-day event showcasing the best of new British cinema to international buyers and distributors. The London UK Film Focus has already become a firm fixture in the international film calendar since its launch last year. Buyers representing every major territory including the US, France, Germany, Scandinavia and Japan attended the inaugural event.
This year’s Film Focus will feature the UK Premiere of Stephanie Sinclaire’s 'Silence Becomes You' (IAC), a highly charged drama starring Alicia Silverstone (Clueless) and Sienna Guillory (Resident Evil: Apocalypse), in a tale of two reclusive sisters set in New England. Other highlights include the world premiere of 'The Descent' (Pathé), Neil Marshall’s (Dog Soldiers) tale of an all-female caving expedition which goes awry; the world premiere of 'Shut Up and Shoot Me' (Moviehouse), Steen Argo’s debut comedy; and the UK premiere of 'Boy Eats Girl' (Odyssey Entertainment), a horror from Stephen Bradley starring Samantha Mumba and Denis Conway.
The event takes place at the bfi’s National Film Theatre (NFT) on London’s South Bank.
LUFF Co-coordinator Helena Mackenzie said: “With the international sales arena changing, sales agents can no longer rely on the old style traditional markets and with Cannes market screenings expected to be incredibly busy, the screening competition is far higher making it even more difficult to attract buyers. LUFF provides a much more relaxed and less competitive showcase opportunity for sale agents to screen and deal.”
