Two way TV add interactive option to Antiques Roadshow

Two Way TV have helped BBC1’s 'Antiques Roadshow' introduce enhanced interactivity through BBCi, the BBC’s interactive service.
Digital satellite viewers watching the celebrated series, in which members of the public discuss their favourite antiques with a team of experts, will be able to press the red button on their remote and answer questions about the antiques throughout the programme.
Two Way TV and the progamme’s producers at BBC Bristol have worked closely together to develop and operate the interactivity – including the integration of those technologies into the BBC’s broadcasting system at Bush House.
Two Way TV deputy commercial director, Tracy Munro, said: “The Antiques Roadshow is made for interactivity. Who can resist trying to guess the value of an object as it is being discussed by one of the programme’s experts? It’s the ideal popular programme to show a mainstream audience the extra entertainment value that enhanced interactivity brings.”
There are around 20 questions per episode and each one has three possible answers. Viewers can also guess the likely value of any given antique. BBCi Antiques Roadshow is free to play and scores clock up on screen.
The addition of join-in interactivity on the Antiques Roadshow follows a licensing agreement with Two Way TV for use of its Ark technologies and tools.
