Scrub Provides Platform Post Production With Avid S6

Scrub has equipped Platform Post Production with a 24-fader Avid S6 M10 control surface.
 
Platform Post Production, also based in Soho, works on a wide variety of broadcast projects, primarily comedy, drama, factual, children's, short-form and sound design. Utilising the Avid ISIS shared storage enables Platform Post Production to easily move rooms to accommodate bookings, matching the room to the project.
 
Senior Dubbing Mixer Ben Hood comments that an S6 M10 was chosen because it fits seamlessly into the workflow of Platform Post Production: "It was extremely important to have a versatile console that would be familiar to all staff and freelancers, and work seamlessly within a Pro Tools environment."
 
Scrub's Technical Sales Team collaborated with Platform Post Production to replace its Avid D-Command control surface with the S6. Hood explains: "For the installation, we had a very tight window of one day, right in the middle of a series. In the past this would have made me nervous, and I would have insisted on more time, but was reassured by Ben [Scully, Head of Scrub Sales] and the Scrub team. We have a very successful history with Scrub and, as ever, their knowledge of our business, input and advice, coupled with hands-on demos of the S6, were invaluable in helping us choose which system would suit us."

Scully explains: "With experience of installing over 50 consoles, we were fully confident that the install could be done in a day. Platform Post Production are finding that the Avid S6 gives them a new level of control over their Pro Tools sessions."
 
Hood is also benefiting from the features offered in the S6 v2.0 software update: "I'm finding spill zones to be invaluable. Combined with layouts and the ability to quickly attention tracks, the S6 allows me to easily navigate sessions and focus on my mix." He continues: "As a facility, one of the attractive selling points of the S6's modular design is that, should the unthinkable happen and the console ever develop a fault, we can swap the offending module out in minutes. Watching one being installed and seeing just how quickly modules can be moved and swapped was eye-opening. I can't think of any other comparable console."
