S&M SFX represented at New York Festivals

London post-production company Smoke & Mirrors (S&M) were among the nominations for Best SFX at the prestigious New York Festivals for their work on Smirnoff Red 'Crooner' – the ad featuring a dog that cracks jokes, plays piano and croons Broadway-style.
The 60-second spot was directed by Daniel Kleinman from production company Spectre for JWT. The centrepiece is a humorous piano act given by a dog that tells canine-type gags, tinkles the ivories and sings in front of a crowd of adoring partygoers. The ad closes with the line “… if Smirnoff made pet food.”
S&M’s facility director Penny Verbe commented: “This was a pretty challenging project, and making it work required our VFX team to address some tricky technical and creative issues. Naturally, we’re delighted our work has again been recognised as the pick of the bunch at one of the world’s most highly regarded events.”
The New York Festivals honours the world’s best work in print, radio, television and interactive ads, campaigns, and programs with 16,000 new examples each year from 64 countries.
