Rushes open new 3D department

Rushes have announced a major investment with the launch of their new 3D Department.
The department will be located in adjoining space at 60-62 Old Compton Street, which means that Rushes now occupies over 15,000 sq.ft. A major refurbishment of the new department is now under way.
Joce Capper, Managing Director of Rushes, said: "We have wanted and needed to expand for sometime but up until now we simply have not had the space. We needed to find more room and it was vital to the success of the new department that it was physically part of Rushes. Our acquisition of space at 60 - 62 Old Compton Street was the perfect solution. It wasn¹t just about space though, we needed to recruit expertise and to build the department around exactly the right people.
"We are very excited to have Jonathan Privett on board as our new Head of 3D, Jonathan¹s experience in effects and 3D is second to none as he has managed so many huge projects. He was formerly Head of 3D at Cinesite, and was responsible for managing effects shots on movies such as 'Tomb Raider', 'Mission Impossible' and 'Tomorrow Never Dies', as well as the latest Bond project.
"He brings with him knowledge of film & long-form work to add to our proven expertise in commercials and graphical title sequences and we are delighted to have him on board."
A full-time core staff for the department including: senior animators, project leaders and production staff are currently being recruited and freelance animators will be taken on as each project requires. The quality of service and expertise that Rushes are now able to provide is of the highest standard. Rushes will employ best of breed technology including: Maya, Renderman, XSI, Mental Ray, Boujou and 3D Equalizer, and 2D integration tools such as Flame, Inferno and Combustion.
